Notnim Be'Ahava ("Giving with Love") was founded in 2002 and has since dedicated itself to distributing food to families in need in Haifa, Israel.
Each week we deliver roughly 350 packages, every one weighing over 15 kg. A package includes fresh vegetables and fruit, meat, eggs, challah, and pantry staples such as oil, sugar, pasta, and rice. Wherever we can, we accommodate specific needs — diapers, infant formula, and similar essentials — depending on the donations we receive that week and the association's means. For most of these families, our packages are a primary source of food.
Before the holidays — Rosh Hashanah, Purim, and Passover — we distribute significantly larger packages to approximately 1,100 families.
Every Thursday from midday, dozens of teenagers gather at the Neve Sha'anan Community Center in Haifa to assemble the packages. In the evening, volunteer drivers deliver them directly to people's homes, sparing recipients the indignity of standing in line for food. Involving young people gives the work an educational dimension alongside the social one.
The families we serve are among the most economically vulnerable in the city and come from every walk of life, including Holocaust survivors, new immigrants, and members of minority communities. Most are referred to us by the Haifa Municipality's Welfare Department or by others in the community.
The association is run entirely by volunteers. No one receives a salary or benefits of any kind, which means 100% of every dollar donated reaches the people it was meant for.
Our financial statements on GuideStar Israel confirm this.
We receive no government or municipal funding. Everything we do is made possible by donations alone.
We would be glad to count you among our partners, whether through volunteering or by donating.
